At an altitude of 915 meters above sea level, Dharchula is town located in the Pithiragarh district of the state of Uttarakhand. It is one of the most striking destination of the Kumaon region which is blessed with lavish cultural and traditional practices. It lies on the way to Kailash Mansarovar and Chota Kailash. The dazzling peaks of the Himalayan range and the purity of the valleys nestled in the peaks adds to the beauteous galore that Dharchula offers. The imperial Panchachuli peaks can also be glimpsed in and around from Dharchula. Dharchula is much known for its varied culture and traditions. The traditions comprise of the variety of the ethnic groups co-inhabiting the region of Kumaon, namely the Kumaoni and Shauna or the Bhotiyas communities. These are warm and welcoming people who offer a home away from home to the travelers and explorers visiting the region. The natural flora and fauna of the region is exquisite. Dharchula is also known for its dry fruits. One can easily spot animals such as deer, bears, foxes, and leopards. Few of the popular tourist attractions located in the vicinity of Dharchula are the Narayan Ashram, Mansarovar Lake, Chikrila Dam, Kali River and Om Parvat. Dharchula is also an important camping site en-route Kailash Mansarovar, Chota Kailash, and Narayan Ashram route.
